Something less than the stock trailer hitch. I'm looking for a aux tank to put back there that doesn't hang too much below the frame. The fuel gauge module is a bit tricky to get accurate but I just fill up at 1/4 tank to be safe.

Been running this set up for about 6 months now and works great. Top it all off the zj tank is 23 gallons so a bit more from stock. These tanks have the option of an in-tank fuel pump for fuel-injected. that can be programmed to match sender to factory gauge. As far as the fuel gauge I found a module from Tanks Inc. I also took the skid plate from the zj, cut down the sides to fit under the tank since it sits higher in the frame then it did in the unibody zj. Used stock zj pump and sender and a bypass fuel regulator to reduce pressure to keep carb happy, old vapor return line works great as fuel return from regulator. Used two angle irons front and rear to attach the straps from the zj to hold the tank up. Once the frame rails where ground down a bit the tank fit right in. A little grinding on the inner frame rails as the tank just barely rubbed. Nowhereneer wrote:I installed a tank from a zj in my 89.
